Rainbow Bridge

Odo

Skinny came along shortly after Fatso. He was a Marshall Farm hob from Pet Pals in Bellefonte, PA. He started out as a chocolate mitt and roaned out until he was very light. He was daddy's boy who loved to fly through the air and land on the couch, only to bounce right off and run back for more. After 2 surgeries for adrenal and insulinoma, he passed away on Sept 9, 2000 at 6.5 years.

Podo

Fatso came into my life as an 8 week old baby in April of 1994. Fatso was my first ferret - a huge champagne hob from Path Valley Farms, who normally weighed in around 5 lbs. He came from PetWorld in Altoona, PA. He was my couch potato buddy who died from Auto-Immune Hemolytic Anemia on Sept 21,1999.

May I Be Frank?

Frank was surrendered to my shelter with his buddy, AL in August of 1998. They were purchased from Scales & Tails at the Nittany Mall (breeder: Path Valley Farms) and were about 6 months old. Another victim of students and impulse purchases. They quickly won our hearts and became permenent members of the family. After a 4 month illness in which we tried everything, he finally succumbed to IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) on April 24, 2002 at the age of 4.5 years.

You Can Call Me AL

Al was surrendered with his buddy, Frank, when they were six months old. Al was my obnoxious sable boy. The Bart Simpson of the ferretworld, he had a charm all his own. Al proved that shelter ferrets could win at ferret shows, his 15 minutes of fame came at the Oct 1998 BFC Monster Mash, where he cleaned house and ended up Best in Show, (Best Alter winning over Best Kit and Best Breeder). He won more trophies over the years. Al became sick very suddenly and passed away September 24, 2002, with a diagnosis of intestinal lymphoma at 4.5 years of age.

Raisin Cain

Raisin was a petstore ferret that bit someone, she was quarantined at a vet's office, but eventually surrendered to Kym's shelter branch. Kym was full so Raisin came to my shelter and my husband fell in love (I did, too, but he has a special place in his heart for albinos). She quickly became a loving member of our family, as she was the ferret that would get along with everyone. Raisin never started a fight, but she would finish them. She won Best Kit at the 1998 Tri-State LIFE show and placed in other championship shows. She passed away August 18, 2002 due to an intestinal blockage at 4.5 years.

Danka Schene

Danka was a beautiful, sweet chocolate jill from Triple F Farms. She was originally dumped at the Delaware Cty SPCA, but eventually went to Kym's PFRA shelter branch, where I adopted her in Nov of 1998, when she was a year old. Kym also helped me name her. Though blind in one eye, due to a genetic defect, Danka was a sweet and loving girl who didn't let anything stop her from beating up the boys. She passed away on Friday, Dec 13, 2002 due to complications from ulcers at 5 years of age.

Kelly (aka Patrick's Lil' Fireball)

Kelly came to us on Valentine's Day of 1998 - she came from a backyard breeder dump (Di Bachman/Frosty Paws Ferrets) along with Brandy and others. Kelly and Brandy ended up staying because we fell in love. She was a beautiful little albino girl with some biting issues that we finally overcame with lots of love and attention. Her 15 minutes of fame was winning 1st place in Alter Championship at the Tri-State LIFE show in Cincinnati, OH in Sept of 1998. Kelly was diagnosed with adrenal disease in late 2001. Due to allergies to anethesia and a history of heart disease, we treated her with Lupron and Melatonin until her quality of life started to fade. We helped her to the bridge on April 3, 2003. She would have been 7 in May.

Brandywine Rose

Brandy came with Kelly from the breeder dump and wiggled her way right into my heart. A more sweet, fun, playful jill I've never known. She did well at shows and was healthy and happy until she was diagnosed with adrenal disease and insulinoma in late 2002. Surgery was done in February of 2003 and even though she remained on a small dose of Prednisone for her insulinoma, her quality of life improved. It wasn't until late December of 2003 that she started to become more lethargic and her liver became enlarged very rapidly. We helped her to the bridge on January 6, 2004. She would have been 7 years old on April 15, 2004.

Sweet Pea

Sweet Pea was my third ferret - my first girl - my last pet store purchase in April of 1997. We had 7.5 wonderful years together with relatively no health issues. She had a gall bladder attack and within 24 hours was gone. You will always be with me, sweetie peetie. I love you, princess brat girl.

TCF's Zigfried Von Stardust (Ziggy)

TCF's Zigfreid Von Stardust (Ziggy) was my first private breeder ferret (born May 21, 1998). He did well at shows and was a little pistol with other ferrets not in his group. He developed adrenal signs and had a successful bilateral adrenalectomy in May of 2003. He also had severe insulinoma, yet remained on prednisone post-surgery. He had a second surgery the following Feburary, which cured the insulinoma, but six months later he went into kidney failure. I think it was a combination of a diabetic spike post-surgery and the loss of his last cagemate (Brandy) in January. He just didn't want to remain here. We helped him to the bridge to be with his cagemates on July 1, 2004. He was just past 6 years old.
